Let’s Talk about aadhar card face authentication service. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)  announcement of the facility to match the face (Face Recognition) of the photo to verify the identity of the person. This facility is being started by the first telecom service companies on September 15.

UIDIA Authority had earlier planned to implement the aadhar card face authentication or aadhar face recognition feature from July 1, which was later extended to August 1.

What is “face recognition feature” of UIDAI Service?

If you are purchasing a new sim card for your mobile handset. To sim card application form a photo of applicant & id proof is required. Under this feature, the photographs attached to the application for mobile SIM card will be done with the font mounted in front of the respective person.

Penalty of service

According to a circular of UIDAI, UIDAI has also proposed to impose a monetary penalty on telecom companies that do not meet this set target from the mid-next month. It is mandatory for the telecom service companies to match at least 10 percent verification of the face of the face in the month of September with live. This type of verification happened in lesser proportion and the penalty for 20 Paisa per verification will be imposed.

Authentication facility agencies

UIDAI said that instructions for implementation of face recognition facility will be issued later for verification agencies other than telecom companies. However, the Authority has not given any timelines for this.

To whom Authentication facility is mandatory?

The special thing is that the UIDAI has said that the match taken during the ‘live face photo’ and the e-kyc will be necessary in those cases where the aadhar card is being used to issue a mobile SIM card.

Why face authentication?

UIDAI said that this step has been taken to prevent the possibility of fingerprint disruption or to prevent cloning. This will strengthen the audit process and security of issuing and simulating a mobile SIM.

Aadhar card misuses

It may be noted here that in June this year, a mobile SIM card distributor from Hyderabad had distorted the base details and seamlessly claimed thousands of SIM.  As per the instructions of the Department of Telecommunications, if the SIM is issued in any manner other than the aadhar card id, then these instructions will not apply.
